There are times when you come across a person that reminds you of someone so much that you wonder if God is playing games with this world. Steven not only resembles my brother, but has some of the same mannerisms, politeness, and dry humor. It’s seriously the weirdest thing. With that being said, I couldn’t have picked a more wonderful wife for my brother’s doppelgänger! For a bride facing an uncharacteristic forecast of rain all afternoon, Ashley was remarkably at ease. She made the call to move her ceremony indoors with no drama and handled the disappointment with grace. Fortunately they chose to do a first look before the rain hit, and even snuck out for some dreamy rain shots. It was as if they had the town of Vail to themselves.
We have never, in over six year, had a wedding ceremony rained out. We’ve never had to resort to an indoor plan B. We usually joke that we have an agreement with the rain gods that they will always hold off… but our deal with them took a rainy turn on Ashley and Steven’s wedding day in July. It was a truly gorgeous Colorado morning in Vail… then the storms moved in and parked themselves for the afternoon and evening. The ceremony on the Vail wedding deck had no chance that day. Thankfully, Debbie with Save the Date Events was well prepared (and THAT’s one of the many reasons hiring a wedding planner is brilliant). The indoor ceremony at the Arrabelle was breathtakingly intimate and just perfect for this relaxed couple.
After recently spending an evening eating farm-to-table pizza and drinking local Colorado beer, I’m convinced that we’ll be solid friends with Ashley and Steven for the long haul… and yes, he’s a splitting image of Gina’s brother!
