Magnolia Hotel Wedding | Julie+Andy

Gina’s Take:
Julie and Andy could not decide whether or not to have a ‘first look’. They really wanted to spend their cocktail hour with friends and family… but having a first look wasn’t how they initially imagined their day. Jason and I never try to persuade a couple either way. Rather, we have quite a few conversations to brainstorm ideas and give couples plenty of options. Whichever way they decide to go, there are always amazing moments for us to shoot! After much consideration, they decided to go ahead and see each other before their ceremony just inside the gated doors of Trinity UMC’s doors. The rain stopped as she walked down the stairs to see Andy and the fresh sun provided a beautiful window of light for their pictures. Their first look was absolutely stunning. My favorite part, however, was watching the anxiety and nervousness melt away from Andy the moment he saw his bride.
Jason’s Take:
I love rainy mornings. There’s nothing better than a cup of hand brewed coffee, an ipad, a blanket and my chair next to the front window. However, on wedding days… not what I’m hoping for! It was pouring all morning. Julie, like us, loves the outdoors for pictures. It seemed rain was going to win the battle that afternoon… but the sun rallied against the rain during their first look and broke through the clouds. Perfect! I developed a new appreciation for wet sidewalks as reflections appeared in every puddle. It was a good day!
We would also like to share an e-mail we received from Julie after their honeymoon:
“Hi Jason and Gina!
Andy and I got back from Barbados last night, so I am finally getting a chance to go through my emails!
First of all… thank you both SO much for being so amazing at our wedding. I was pretty bummed when I woke up that morning. Your positive attitudes and willingness to shoot outside in the rain and cold were so appreciated. You both put us at ease and helped us feel really good about our pictures!! I have had so many people tell me how great you guys were. I know I told you this at the wedding, but you guys were the best investment we made for our wedding. We can’t WAIT to see the rest of the pictures. The slide show during the reception was so amazing and unexpected. What a special treat!!!”
