Lauren and Santino are warm, affectionate, and inviting people. The second I met Lauren’s parents during the engagement shoot, I knew exactly where she got those traits and why she sought out a man who mirrored them. It wasn’t more than two minutes before Rose, Lauren’s mom, had me sitting, with my shoes off, and a plate of food in my hands. They are incredibly hospitable. Sitting smack-dab in the middle of the holiday rush, it is so easy for me to focus on my own to-do list and neglect others. I’m happy to be reminded of this today! I can only hope Jason and I live out graciousness and hospitality in our own lives and, more importantly, pass it on to our children.
Lauren and Santino had to reschedule their Winter engagement session in Vail a few times due to poor weather. However, the weather gods provided a pristine afternoon for their late Summer wedding on the Vail Wedding Deck. The world is calmer at that altitude, even with the buzz of wedding guests and the 5 dogs (yes, 5 dogs!) included in the wedding. The sound up there dissipates in the thin air, the breeze is cool, the sun is incredible. The feeling of absolute joy, radiating from this amazing couple, was contagious. Even though the dogs dragged the flower boy down the aisle, one of the groomsmen fainted right onto the brick during the ceremony, and the delay of the ceremony left us with 6 minutes of shooting time on the mountain; the memory of that sun-drenched afternoon is as sweet as the 12 year Balvenie Doublewood single-malt scotch I’m enjoying these Winter evenings.
