Gina’s Take:

There is something amazing about photographing intimate weddings. Weddings tend to have strict timelines, tons of moving parts, and not much downtime for the bride a groom. Intimate weddings are something entirely different; nothing is rushed and every moment savored. Having gotten married only last year, it’s still fresh in my mind. While I had a blast on our wedding day, looking back, I would have loved more time to just enjoy marrying a great guy (Jason :-) ). Katie & Jason (with the help of Brynn of Save the Date Events) planned just that; a day to enjoy. You could just see how they were completely in the moment and truly relished what was happening. It was a joy to be a part of and experience.

Jason’s Take:

Gina and I generally split up while the bride and groom get ready separately. I enjoy hanging out with the groom (and groomsmen) as they get ready. There’s a wonderful nervousness that oozes from almost every groom as he gets ready for their wedding day. Jason was no exception. He was nervous, talked more than I’ve heard him talk… ever. He shared with me his many trials of growing out a little bit of stubble over the past few months. Eventually, he deduced that six days of growth was the perfect amount of facial hair for his wedding. He also lost thirty pounds between the engagement shoot last year and the wedding this year – remarkable! When a bride and groom choose to have a first look, there’s about a five minute window where it’s just me and the groom hanging out, waiting for Gina and the bride to come. It’s a special moment… for me to observe… a man waiting, with tremendous anticipation, to see his bride. The relief and comfort he experiences after the first look is tangible. It is as if, until that moment, he missing part of himself – and when he see’s her during the first look (or the ceremony) he becomes whole… and breathes again.

Again – thank you Brynn with Save the Date Events, Park Hyatt Resort Beaver Creek, PlumSage Flowers , and Make Up by Janine for making this a wonderful day for Katie and Jason.

Evergreen Lake House Wedding | Michelle + Jordan

Gina’s Take:

“Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, KU! Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, KU! Rock Chalk, Jayhawk, KU!”

I have no alma mater and since the University of Kansas was instrumental in bringing Michelle and Jordan together and since they live/breath KU sports, I felt the need to pay homage. In order to not screw up a yell so sacred to them (and all KU fans) I did some research on it. I had no idea it originated in 1886 by E.H.S. Bailey (a chemistry professor) and that by 1887, with a few modifications, it became the official yell of the school. Talk about an amazing tradition. We can’t give credit to the University of Kansas alone for this romance, two other things were crucial for it to begin. Jordan’s cousin brought them together in the first place… and (this is my favorite part) MySpace is where they got to know each other (pre-Facebook domination)!!

Well, their wedding was a blast. I don’t know what else to say because that literally sums it up completely. From the first moment, I was referred to as “damn Gina” (from the show “Martin”) and Jason got to wear his Puma sneakers. Every time we’ve seen them, we like them more! The only downside to our having met and formed a relationship with them is that they live in Kansas. Maybe we’ll connect on MySpace. It’s the way of the future :-)

Jason’s Take:

I recently watched the box office bomb, The Adjustment Bureau. I thought I’d give it a chance… it was terrible. Except for the interesting way that a life could literally be mapped out perfectly. And that one little thing, such as a spilled cup of coffee, could lead a person to meet the woman of his dreams.

During the wedding ceremony, in the bright Colorado sun, we learned a little bit about Michelle. The pastor shared that she had nearly given up trying to find a good man. Then, at just the right time, (as noted above) she met Jordan. I’m reminded often of just how many perfect things have to happen for two people to find each other. The stars have to literally align in just the right way, at the right time, for the right two people to meet, fall in love, and marry.

Thank you to all of the wedding vendors that made a great day for Michelle and Jordan:

Arrowhead Golf Course Weddings | Preview

Congrats Stefanie and Jon! Your Indonesian wedding at Arrowhead Golf Course was stunning. The amazing colors in the sky were worth the couple of raindrops and sporadic crazy wind.

(Note: No Photoshop was performed to create the color/saturation in the sky – it literally turned that color for about 90 seconds!)
