Tara + Pieter | Engaged

Gina’s Take:
Adventure. Tara and Pieter have both had their share. She’s lived all over the world and, how adorable is this, they met while he was her safari guide in South Africa. Yep, that puts Jason and my “adventures” to shame! They’ve “settled down” in Cape Town, but I’m sure their lives will never be stagnant. Meeting them has rekindled my sense of adventure. They inspire me to be bold. I mean, we’re not going to pick up and move to a different continent (at least not any time soon) but I want to experience as much as I can take in. Lucky for me, my hubby feels the same way.

Jason’s Take:
We found a slice of heaven as we scouted for Tara and Pieter’s mini engagement session. Knowing that they had an incredibly tight schedule while they were in Boulder, we searched for a location that would help their friends and family at home get a feel for what the Colorado (Boulderish) outdoors feels like in early March. Those of us that are natives know that March can be incredibly cold and snowy, or can be 70 degrees and quite warm (I was in shorts – and loving it!). The empty trees and the monotone fields lend feeling to the anticipation for Spring-time color. We visited this area just a couple of days ago – and the transformation has been completed. Gorgeous in March, amazing in April.

Outdoor Engagement Photography in Denver: Justin + Stephanie

engagement-portraits-denver

Meet Stephanie and Justin. These two live for sports! They met in college while working at a sporting goods store. Justin rocked the baseball field in college while Stephanie earned herself a scholarship playing softball. In true fashion, Justin proposed while at the golf driving range and hid the ring at the bottom of a bucket of balls. He seriously painted the box to look like a Titleist golf ball. They are third generation Denver Bronco season ticket holders. He spends his balmy summer evenings on the baseball field (and she braves nearly every game- adorable!).

We love photography and the outdoors we appreciate how special it is to have something you can do and love with your partner. You get to do your favorite things with your favorite person. At the end of the day you’re not only lovers, but friends.

With two sports fans what better place than Mile High to shoot engagement photos, right? Well… we only spent some time there, but did fit it in! They even had matching Elway jerseys on. AWESOME.

Denver Engagement Pictures: Liz + Brent

denver-engagement-pictures

We (Jason and I) had a great evening engagement photography session with Liz, Brent and their two Jack Russell Terriers, Mississippi and Vegas. Yep, a dog named Vegas. Don’t you love this couple already? Little miss Mississippi is named after his favorite (understatement) college team, the University of Mississippi. They are such fun dogs! As an aside, I have to say, Brent and I bonded over our love of FarmVille… Liz and Jason also bonded over their both being perplexed as to why we love FarmVille!

We started out their session at City Park, in Denver, which looks amazing with all the rain this spring and did some family shots with the pups. Liz and Brent are so easy to work with… and so fun together! At one point they climbed into a giant flowerpot because, well, if there is an empty 4-foot flowerpot you have to get an engagement picture in it, right? The night was beautiful as we headed to their second location. We planned their engagement session later in the evening so we could also shoot at the BlueBird Theater to get couple portraits under the lit-up sign. Their first date was at a concert and it was fun taking engagement pictures at a location that that felt so nostalgic to them. So romantic! We can’t wait to photograph Liz and Brent’s wedding in Vail, Colorado this Fall.
