My husband loves to fly fish. I love to read. Conflicting passions? Actually, they are almost perfectly suited for one another… just like us (sappy overload!!). While Jason was up at the crack of dawn wading into a freezing river, I was curled up on the bank with a Jane Austen novel (Persuasion to be precise). He had a perfect morning, I had a perfect morning and it still felt like we spent it together. Win win. Another “win win” from the weekend? Kathryn and Jeremy’s spectacularly perfect wedding for us. Beautiful rustic cabins, middle-of-nowhere venue, relaxed “non-diva” bride, fishing… yep, pretty perfect.
A perfect wedding day, for this photographer, starts out waking next to Gina in a cabin nestleed deep in the mountains after a fun night photographing a rehearsal dinner. I woke early to make sure I had plenty of time (before the wedding) to explore a Gold Medal stretch of the Frying Pan River on private land. Fly rod in hand, I walked 20 yards from the cabin to the river and caught beautiful brown and cut-throat trout in every hole I though there would be fish. I couldn’t be happier when I met up with the groomsmen mid-morning to begin shooting their preparations for the wedding – and swap stories about the fish we all caught. They day only got better from then… amazing people, amazing wedding, amazing day for Kathryn and Jeremy.
