Jason and I met Caitlin and Justin for the first time at their Evergreen Engagement Session. It was a whirlwind of “hi, nice to meet you” and “let’s take some pictures”! Justin wore new grey All-Stars for their engagement session that he had to save for their wedding day in Breckenridge. He was so excited to finally wear them again that I think he got dressed early just so he could put them on!
For Caitlin and Justin, Colorado was the only destination they considered for their wedding. They did not want a big “to-do” and a Colorado mountain wedding had the perfect relaxed vibe they felt was a fit. They stayed at a rental home in Silverthorne with their entire wedding guest list of only close family and friends.
With a more intimate guest list, they were able to have their ceremony at Sapphire Point overlooking Lake Dillon. This was our second Sapphire Point experience… last fall we photographed Kurt and Jenny’s first look at Sapphire Point. Anyway, the day was gorgeous! Their mother’s walked them in and their fathers officiated the ceremony together. I think the emotion of the moment was unexpected for Caitlin and Justin. They weren’t planning a big wedding, they had wanted to elope… and BOOM, they’re standing in front of their family and friends exchanging vows. Powerful stuff. They had a few impromptu embraces and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place… including me and Jason. I’m crying now lol. I think a line from their first dance sums up their relationship to a tee: “Though relationships can get old have a tendency to grow cold. We have something like a miracle.Yeah, and I’ll stay with you.” -John Legend
Caitlin could not see herself with a traditional bouquet so she had a designer on etsy.com create her a custom flowerless bouquet made of ribbon, feathers and beads. It was stunning. So fun to photograph and completely original.
Between the wedding ceremony and reception at Ember restaurant they went back to the house and played a few rounds of beer pong. They are so wonderfully quirky that it was perfect!
Guess what song they’re dancing to…
