“We need a spotlight-light here!” “Let’s get these props arranged quickly!” “Okay… And action!” Sounds more like a stage production than an engaging shoot. All kidding aside, some engaged couples (and photographers) get so overly caught up in designing an engagement shoot that they forget it’s about two people “engaged” with each other. You don’t need to be biking, with balloons and ice cream cones, past a chalk wall wedding date, wearing a matching polka-dotted bow tie and scarf, with confetti flying all around you… Be yourselves! I prefer things more natural.
I think Lexi And Tosha did a fantastic job incorporating a few fun items and a place they love into a sweet, quirky engagement session. The best part? It perfectly fits their relaxed, yet adventurous personalities. Sitting here, on yet another 60 degree December day, I have even more love for these two braving near freezing temps in her adorable dresses (oh – and changing clothes in the great outdoors)!
We consider ourselves to be top-notch tour guides for couples planning their destination wedding and/or engagement shoot in Colorado. We have a considerable database of amazing outdoor locations throughout Colorado – in our heads, of course. The best part of working with local couples, however, is that they share their favorite locations with us all the time (example: Kate+Matt | Engaged). Lexi and Tosha introduced us to one of their favorite ‘secret’ hiking spots for this shoot. Just outside of Nederland, this hidden trail leads through valleys, aspen trees, and rolling hills with magnificent views of the Rockies. The temperature outside was unreasonably cold, yet still, the afternoon was filled with warmth, joy, and a ton of random laughs.
We’re so excited to have this engagement session featured on Style Me Pretty!
Yep… this is where they changed clothes (perfect!). Sub 40 degree temperatures.
