Cassie+Luke | Married

Gina’s Take:
I’ve never seen a New England Autumn. From what I hear they’re overwhelming. I have to experience this explosion of colors (*translation: Jason, I’d like to go to New England in the fall – lol)! However, I must admit, I’m partial to Colorado Autumns. I love the Rocky Mountains. Seeing them ablaze with golden aspens is more invigorating than a day at the spa. September and October weddings have become some of my favorites with the lingering Summer warmth and brilliant Autumn light. Cassie and Luke had one such October wedding at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. With an outside ceremony, cocktail hour, and a tented reception, Jason and I were in paradise!
Jason’s Take:
I had just spent a week out-of-town, photographing Lacey and Nick’s wedding in Hawaii. As much as I love the beach, I have to completely agree with Gina. I was so happy to back home in Colorado, just in time for Cassie and Luke’s wedding. The vibrant Autumn sun and warm dry heat reminded me of lazy afternoons spent fly-fishing deep in the mountains. Thank you, Cassie and Luke, for choosing us as your wedding photographers and for spending the afternoon in a field with the people who mean the most to you. We enjoyed every minute of it with you.
Thank you to all of the vendors that made for an absolutely beautiful day! (Brynn with Save the Date Events, Shawn with Event Rents, Colbert with Footers Catering, Mary with the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, Nate with A Music Plus, and Samantha with Lady Charm Artistry (hair and makeup).

Emily+Mike | Engaged

Jason’s Take:
Santa delivered snowboards to our home this year!!! We love the outdoors – and always have an excuse to get out there! Gina’s snowboard came on Christmas morning. Mine came about two months early (thank you Gina!).
We’re both new to snowboarding. As a Colorado native, I’ve been skiing for over 20 years. Last year, however, I called it quits on ski boots. There had to be a better way! During Spring Break (when the mountains got epic snow every day) we took a family snowboarding trip. After one lesson, we were all converts (sorry skiers – we still love you, and feel sorry for your feet in those boots).
Emily and Mike live in Breckenridge, they’re getting married in Breckenridge next year, and they both work for the Breck ski resort! Naturally, it only makes perfect sense for this adventurous couple to have their engagement session up on the mountain, too. Gina wasn’t quite ready to take her camera gear up the hill on a snowboard. I was willing, relatively able, and totally excited to do it! Emily and Mike were very patient with me. As a snowboarding instructor supervisor, Mike lives in a world of being patient with newbies. Their engagement session was incredibly fun and spontaneous. Their natural affection and love was as radiant as the unfiltered sun.
Thankfully, I didn’t destroy my gear in an epic crash. Emily and Mike both complimented me on my progress (especially for this being my 5th time on a board). We can’t wait for their wedding next summer – different look, but perfect location!
